Is Your Device Under Warranty?
Anyone out there ever wonder if their Apple Device is still under warranty? Let me show you a few quick ways to identify your device and see if it's still under warranty with Apple.
First let's find the serial number of your device. The serial number is a unique identifier of your Apple product. This is a great way to see the make and model of your device. If your device is functioning properly and powers on, follow these steps.
On your Mac
Navigate to the Apple Logo upper left hand corner
Select About This Mac
You'll find your Serial Number in that pop out window
On your iOS device
Navigate to Settings
General
About
You'll find your Serial Number in that window
**If you have an product that no longer powers on or is not functioning properly, look physically on the device to see if the Serial Number is printed on the back.**
Now that we found our serial number from our macOS and iOS device, let's navigate to Apple's website to check warranty coverage.
https://checkcoverage.apple.com/
Paste your Serial Number in the desired box. Type in the captcha. And select continue. You'll now be presented with a window like the one below.
Here's the beauty about this online tool. Not only does it show you if your device is under warranty, this allows you to directly set up contact with Apple and it displays the exact Make and Model of the product in question. Example: Mac Pro (Late 2013).
This can be very helpful if you find an older or even newer Apple device and you want to know exactly the model you're working with.
Hope this short tip will allow you to identify your Apple products from here on out.
