Favorite App: Mactracker
Continuing from my "Is Your Device Under Warranty" post, here's an App that I regularly use in my day to day that will help you identify specifics about any Apple product you own.
Mactracker, in my opinion, one of the greatest free tools for an Apple IT Professional out there. Let's just say you need to reference a MacBook Pro from 2013 to see if the device has a built in HDMI port, you can do that. How about just to see what year the device in question was released, will Apple still support it, or will it install the latest software update that Apple is promoting? You can also do that. So if the device is in front of you and you are able to get the serial number, I’d recommend to plug that serial number into https://checkcoverage.apple.com/. That will give you the model of the device.
Once you have the model of the device or you know the model of the device, navigate to Mactracker - either on your macOS or iOS device and find the Apple product that you would like to get more information about.

From here you will be presented to plethora of info.
One of my favorite features of this app is that it gives you a one stop shop to compare and look at the products of Apples current offering. Navigate to the General -- Current Models section of the App to see specs of Apple products that are currently being sold on on https://www.apple.com/.
Additionally, if you're looking to keep inventory of your Apple Products, Mactracker for macOS has you covered. You can insert your serial numbers into the App and it will identify where your device was manufactured. This is a nice and free resource for you to keep a local inventory of your Apple devices.
Lastly, for any tech history buffs out there - Mactracker is a great place to learn about the evolution of Apple Products. From the macOS App you can find a timeline starting back in 1976 - current, of every product that ever existed.
Hope you all find it a little easier to identify your Apple products, both old and new! Mactracker for the win!!
